Mini Update!

So I've been in Punta Cana for 4 days and it's been amazing! We've eaten some great food, swam with sharks and sting rays, drank a bunch of different booze, bought cigars, and generally had a good time.

I've got some pictures, but things have been crazy until now to really get some great ones. I did have a waterproof camera with me while we were swimming, but will have to scan them when I get home.

I'm currently sitting in the lobby of my resort typing this in on my iPod, sipping on an ice cold rum and coke. Anyone who is thinking of coming to the Dominican should come to this resort: The Grand Palladium Bavaro.

Amazing service and friendly people!
Well, gotta go!

And I'm off!

When this entry is posted, I will be on a plane, taking off from the Regina airport for a week of tropical vacation. I will attempt to send small updates while I am down there, but may not be able to, depending on if I can get internet access, and if I can get my iPod touch to post while down there.

Fear not! I will be taking my digital camera, and will have some pictures for you to admire (or complain about) when I get back! In the mean time, bundle up and stay warm!

Countdown to Paradise!

I'm really starting to get excited now. It's Just over a week before we leave, and I've gotten most of the planning and big stuff out of the way. Now I just need to take my list, and make sure I don't forget anything. You know, stuff like sunglasses (as mine are prescription), Sunblock (I need liquid lead almost), clothes, etc.

I'm just getting over a bit of a stomach bug and a cold, so those are both out of the way, I can look forward to fun in the sun, pretty women, and cold drinks.

As an aside, I've found something that I sincerely agree with. It was a nice fresh point of view on socializing, and seemed to call to me. Normally I would cut and paste in a quote, but the source I found is in a picture format. I've tried to place it in the blog in a readable format.

Please.. read it and comment!

Movie review: The Book of Eli

I was unsure what to think of this going into the show. The previews only gave a taste of what the movie was going to be about. Luckily it was very enjoyable. Without providing any spoilers, let me give tell you what to expect.

The movie has a bit of a religious theme, but in no way is it in your face. Actually, I felt it fit in VERY well at the end of the show. There is some violence, and it is not a show for the entire family to see. I would say limit it to pre-teens. The film has dark moments and bright moments. Lighting is very important to remmber as your are watching. It tells you what to expect.

All in all, a good movie. While I'm not sure I'll be racing out to buy the blu-ray when it comes out, I wouldn't turn up an opportunity to add it to my movies collection. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Technology and you!

I love technology. I could spend an entire day just playing with new techno-gadgets, either hardware or software. I have an pretty good intrinsic grasp of how to operate most of it (except the really new stuff). Let's juts say I'm a self recognized technophile.

The CES (which I think means Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas each year is the place for developers to show off their new and cool stuff. How I wish I could go!

This year, according to the news I've been seeing, the majority of the displays have to do with 3D TV's and smart phones. I'll have to admit, the 3D TV idea is cool, but... (and it's a big but)... Do they really think people will want to sit down and put on a pair of glasses to be able to relax and watch regular tv? In my opinion, it's going to be a flash in the pan sort of thing.

Sometimes I wonder what sort of cool things we'll have in 25 years. I'm sure I'll be around to find out, but the suspense is killing me. With half a mind on what was offered at this year's show, check out this:

Sick as a dog...

Here I am, less than 3 weeks from going to the Dominican, and I've been sick with some kind of stomach bug for the past week. All I have to say is I better be the top of my game when we leave, or I'll be seriously pissed off with the universe.

All my life I've had to cope with a shitty immune system. If something is going around, I get it. Flu, cold, Norwalk, you name it. Bah.

This illness better be out of my system soon... or I'll try to poison it with alcohol!
